Saint Eugene School is Nationally Accredited via Middle States. Catholic education provides a faith-centered and academically rigorous experience for students. Catholic schools are committed to providing the highest quality education possible. It’s widely known that students who attend a Catholic school will generally do better than public or charter school students on standardized tests.
A key measure of the Catholic school’s commitment to quality education is our association with the Middle States Association’s Council on Elementary and Secondary Education. Middle States is an international organization that “aspire to improve the quality of education in the United States and around the world by assisting schools to achieve excellence through the process of accreditation, by affirming to the public a member school’s trustworthiness and commitment to MSA CESS continuous improvement, by providing the network and resources for the promotion of proven practices.” (Middle States Mission Statement).
All Catholic schools in the Archdiocese of Philadelphia enjoy Middle States accreditation. Unlike many public schools and most charter schools, Catholic schools opt into this intensive process. Middle States evaluations are a rigorous process where a school community spends two years working internally and with an external team of school evaluators to set goals and measure school performance.
Our schools are rooted in the Catholic faith. As such, we provide a loving, child-centered environment for our students. We build a community of faith. The quality of our academic program is equally important which is why we invest time and money on Middle States. Recently, the importance of STEM (science, technology, engineering, and math) within schools has evolved into the importance of STEAM (science, technology, engineering, arts, and math). Catholic schools embrace the idea of STREAM (science, technology, religion, engineering, arts and math) as a way to enhance learning, and incorporate the importance of each subject, and further develop skills to succeed in the 21st century.
Religious education is the foundation on which Saint Eugene School is built on. Our curriculum revolves around Christ’s word. Ensuring your child is given the opportunity to learn about their faith, in addition to their other favorite subjects provides them with a well-rounded education where faith and academics are fully integrated, not totally separated. That’s why the concept of STREAM is so important to Saint Eugene School. It’s important to let each student flourish in the subjects they excel in. It is also important to help students have resources to learn about subjects they may not be as familiar with or as well versed in.
Incorporating an equal importance across STREAM, students may sit in a group setting, to discuss information. Learning how to work with one another, and learning from each other is just as important as learning from the teacher. Group efforts help build interpersonal relationships and help build skills, like problem-solving.
Children are facing an increasingly challenging world. At Saint Eugene School, we are committed to providing a dynamic academic program integrated with faith and morals We believe that this foundation will best equip children to meet those challenges head-on.
